Choose a guide for your task
You can read the guides in any order. Choose the one that helps you move a specific piece of work forward.
- Internal control: connect responsibilities, procedures, risks and follow-up in a system your business uses.
- Risk assessment: explain what could happen, who could be affected and what you will do about it.
- SJA: bring the people doing a particular job together to discuss the steps, hazards and unresolved questions.
- Incident follow-up: move from a report to an explanation, an action and a check of the outcome.
- Checklists: make a repeatable check specific and keep the record of each completed inspection.
- Annual review: consider whether your system works and decide what needs to change next.
How the parts fit together
A risk assessment may show that a working method needs to change. The revised procedure may become a checklist question. A failed check may lead to an incident record and an action. The review helps you see whether the change worked.
HMS is the Norwegian term for health, safety and environment, or HSE. KS means quality assurance and can also cover agreed customer requirements, finish and the scope of a delivery. Make clear whether a finding concerns safety, a quality requirement or both.
Fictional example: a delivery that keeps going wrong
An imaginary service business finds that materials often arrive at the wrong entrance. The team checks the order and working conditions, agrees on a clear delivery point and adds a specific confirmation to its preparation checklist. It checks the following deliveries to see whether the change helps.
The example connects an observation, a procedure and a check of the outcome. It is not a customer case study or a complete assessment of transport and unloading risks.
What these guides cover
References to legislation concern Norway. Each guide distinguishes sourced requirements, practical suggestions and fictional examples. The Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority's HSE pages provide further guidance on the work you actually carry out.
If you work alone, establish which HSE requirements apply to your actual activities.
Take one specific task forward
Choose one situation you want to understand better. Record what happens today, what should change and who will follow it up. The product overview shows how RettHMS connects procedures, inspections, SJA and incident follow-up around those tasks.
